Picnic-palooza!

Mister Tom's Critters Animal Rescue Our annual open house and picnic have become a tradition in the community, and this year was no exception. We hosted hundreds of friends and family over the course of a beautiful Sunday afternoon in June. We caught up with old friends and made a few new ones. Kids and adults alike were fascinated by the menagerie from Mister Tom's Critters Animal Rescue, while Sean Hetrick and the Leftovers rocked the crowd with great music. And, yes...there was food. Thank you to everyone who organized and supported the picnic. You can view a video slide show on our Facebook page. We can't wait until next year!

Blessings Grant-ed

Our tremendous thanks to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health, County Executive Steve Schuh's Community Support Grant Program and the City of Annapolis' Community Development Block Grant Program for the recent designation of funds to the Samaritan House in support of both our current operation and our Campus of Recovery expansion. This city and county investment in our mission will pay dividends to the community as we continue our work on the front lines of addiction recovery.

Home Improvements

Ahh...there is nothing so inspiring as a good makeover! We officially debuted the house's updated look at the picnic and open house in June. Fresh paint, new furnishings, and construction in the entryway and basement to provide a better floor flow...all of these things have had such a positive impact on how we conduct our daily work. Thank you to staff, volunteers and donors for making this possible!

Remembering Lola

This month we said goodbye to Lola, our beloved Sam House mascot for over 14 years. She gave great comfort and love to our clients and staff during her canine reign over the campus. She retired two years ago to the home of our board president Kirk Noonan for rest and TLC, and our current mascot dog Sami joined the Samaritan House campus family. Lola will be greatly missed.

What We Are All About: Our Clients Say

Every day, we are moved by the words of our clients:

"I'm 42 years old. I had an incident where I almost lost my life and my mind... I went into rehab and immediately started trying to get in the Samaritan House. I had a few friends go through there and they are still clean today... For me it was the best thing that ever happened to me. From the director to the counselor and staff, I can't say enough. They are all amazing. Now I'm moving onto the ¾ house coming up on 90 days clean- a miracle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Samaritan House." - John K. - July 2016
